Ayah's Review of First American Colonies

I read the book, First American Colonies by Yannick Oney. It’s an informational book. It was about the Spanish, and Dutch settlers, and it was about Jamestown, Roanoke, and Pocahontas, and all those things. It was an interesting book. I thought it was really sad that the settlers captured Pocahontas when Captain John Smith left. I thought it was really rude and mean that they made Pocahontas get married to John Rolfe. But worst of all, it was horrible that they made her change her religion, wear the woman settler’s clothes, and they made her change her name to Rebecca! I’m sorry, but your name is your name. No one should tell you what to do.

I liked this book because I liked to see how it was like in the past and how far developed it is now in the future. I liked to se how people had o cook over an open fire, and how people needed to trade in order to survive. It was cool to see how they had to deal with Native Americans and the different reasons why they came to settle in America.
It’s a very interesting book.
